I am a colorist

I work with color every day and bring 25 years of expertise to your home.

As a Color Consultant I work with you to see your space both objectively, what’s going on in the space regarding light and existing elements, and subjectively, how you want your space to look and feel. I use my expertise and background to get you from “I want it to feel warm but I’m tired of yellow” to the perfect anchor, backdrop, or foil for your environment.

My work as a colorist has unfolded in several iterations. As a fine art painter with a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and a Bachelors of Science in Art and Art History I have analyzed color relationships and honed my color sense in the studio. I’ve exhibited internationally and been awarded fellowships at the Skowhegan School in Maine and at The Vermont Studio Center. As the Charge Scenic Artist in the Theater Department at The University of Massachusetts I have worked one on one with professional set designers including Mac Arthur Fellow Mimi Lien. I have listened and collaborated, transforming designers’ notes, drawings and samples into a wide variety of finishes, including faux wood floors and a faux black and white marble floor for a version of Versailles. In my experience as an art teacher I have honed my communication skills and developed projects to allow students to access art content while following their own creative impulses. I have taught Color Theory at the college level and taught watercolor, oil painting and collage to adults in New York City. I’ve been an Artist in Residence through The Brooklyn based Rotunda Gallery’s Mini Museum Program, and I’ve been an art teacher to preschoolers through middle school students at The Montessori School of Northampton.
